On Wedneseday October 15, 2014, twenty Dawson-Bryant High School females had the opportunity to attend the Toyota LEAD Conference at Ashland Community and Technical College on the Industrial Parkway.  From the standing ovation the girls received upon entering the venue to the signed book every student received at the end of the event, the ladies had an incredible time.  Students selected three mini-workshops to attend in the morning related to health, fitness, college, careers, and self-defense.  After a box lunch, the students had the opportunity to listen to Julie Marie Carrier, a former Miss Virginia and current success coach for MTV.  Julie travels to country encouraging teenage girls to exude confidence even when they don’t feel that way.  All students had a wonderful time and hope to have an opportunity to attend next fall.
